One of the topics I teach students is called "Food Trends". We look at how the types of food we eat change, and why they do so. I was doing some 'research' on Pinterest, and have noticed a growing trend of "Whoopie pies". The story of their origin varies, though they apparently come from the New England region of America. They are really just 2 cakey biscuits joined together with a butter cream filling. Being the 'good' teacher that I am, I feel that it is important for my students to try some of the new food trends, so here are some whoopie pies for you to try... for research purposes only of course!
Traditional chocolate with butter cream filling.
Strawberry Whoopie pies - so pretty!
Red velvet with cream cheese filling.
Pumpkin and spice whoopie pies mmmmmm.
S'mores flavoured (chocolate and marshmallow filling)
So many options... I may just have to make a few!
I've been wanting to make some whoopie pies for ages too Jo. Nice pins.

Yum! They all look so good.
ReplyDeleteI have been hearing a lot about whoopie pies lately. They do look yum, but I think that in the best interests of my diet I will stay away... for now ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are just evil and delicious and make me want to give up on giving up sugar - must avert eyes now as those strawberry ones look too cute and the others all look like i could eat a dozen!

ReplyDeleteIf macarons are the new cupcake, are whoopie pies the new macarons? Who cares, as long as they're yummy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a divine post. I love whoopie pies and ate way too many of them on our last trip to America. I need to repin a couple of these and make some myself. Yum!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in with my Pinterest Party!
