Four

Yesterday Meg's preschool was closed because the teachers were both sick, so I got to spend the whole day with her, without Hannah around. This is a pretty rare event for me, and I loved it.

We baked biscuits together and discussed the big issues - why boys can't wear skirts (apparently they aren't very good twirlers), how babies are born (in general terms only), why headbands are better than hair clips, and which fairy books she intends to read once she learns to read.

Meg is 4 (though she would want me to point out that she turns 5 very soon), and she is off to big school next year, so the opportunities to spend time like this will get rarer.

I love this stage that Meg is in. She no longer need help doing the very basics like dressing and feeding, but our family is still her whole world. She is bright, inquisitive, full of energy and fun, innocent, loud, kind, and all together lovely.

  1. Just lovely Jo. She's gorgeous. I think my daughter was a terror at 4. She was wonderful at 2. It probably had something to do with having to put up with a 2 yo little brother I suspect.
