A Good Day

I have been meaning to go into town to the fortnightly farmers market for the last 6 months, so on Saturday we finally did it. It was pouring, so fortunately it is held in an old (and very beautiful) church hall.

The market was fantastic - loads of niche producers. Olives, pickles and jams, artisan breads and pastries, wines, cheeses, organic meats, pies (both fruit and meat varieties), fruits and vegetables, and flowers. There was also a scattering of arts and crafts. Best of all the prices were what we call 'country' - that is, very reasonable.

We stocked up on breads, organic sausages, cheese, some yummy caramelised onion, and cupcakes.

We visited Country Boy's grandparents while we were in town, then did some shopping before heading home.

Once I had unpacked the shopping, I spent the afternoon in front of the fire, cruising the interwebs, watching The Darling Buds of May, and generally enjoying the cosiness of a wet afternoon.

After buying all that gorgeous food, we had a simple ploughmans dinner with the bread, cheese, sausages and caramelised onions we bought at the markets. I added our homemade spicy tomato sauce, pickled cucumbers (also home made), some fresh tomato, and butter to go on the gorgeous sour dough bread.

Life doesn't get much better than this!
