We've been left to our own devices. Abandoned. Made to fend for ourselves. Well not quite, but we are officially on our own now.
Country Boys's parents have packed up the van, joined the grey nomads, and gone for a 3 month jaunt around North Western Australia, leaving us (OK- Country Boy - I'm close to useless) to run the farm.
Back when we first talked about moving to the farm with the in laws, we were pretty sure that they would be happy with the plan. The morning after we discussed it with them, my FIL had the map of Australia out and was planning the route he thought he would take. Clearly the idea suited him!
This time of year is the slowest on the farm. Shearing has finished, and lambing will start (for the cross breds - that's lambs for meat) soon. Country Boy has been given instructions of what needs to happen when.
It will be interesting to see how we go, with no support close by. When we lived in the mountains, we had my family and friends close by. When we moved down here, we had Country Boy's parents nearby when we needed a change of scenery. Now we are all on our own!
My only piece of advice is don't make any major changes!! They will come back expecting everything to be exactly where they left it, including tools in the shed!
